FAQ
Here are the most common questions I receive.
How long have you been shooting weddings?
I photographed my first wedding in 2010, and haven't stopped since. In the past 7 years, I've shot over 80 weddings, both as primary photographer and second shooter.
WE'RE THINKING ABOUT DOING A FIRST LOOK, BUT AREN'T SURE.
WHAT'S THE BIG DEAL?
Great question! I may be biased (since my husband and I did a First Look and we absolutely loved it), but First Looks are magical-- for the couple and for the photographer. I'm always thrilled when my brides and grooms tell me they've opted to do one! They offer so many benefits, some of which I've listed here:
First Looks give the bride and groom moments to talk, connect, and re-center themselves before the craziness begins, which has such a positive effect on your overall stress level and mood for the day. This time can also bring out those sweet, heart-aching, soul-soothing happy tears, which is never a bad thing- trust me.
Doing a First Look minimizes the gap between the ceremony and reception (since we do all your couple portraits after the First Look and before the ceremony) and lets you and your hungry guests get to eating and partying sooner!
Couple portraits are less rushed, and a First Look allows for more time, care, and opportunity for creativity to be given to such special portraits.
I've never heard of a bride and groom regretting their First Look at all. In all of my experiences, it has never detracted from that magical "Here Comes the Bride!" moment in any way. The epic butterflies are still there, the punch-to-the-gut awe still happens, and everyone else sees you for the first time!
WHAT GEAR DO YOU USE?
I shoot with two Canon 5D Mark IV bodies and Canon's prime lenses. I also use an on-camera and off camera flash when needed.
DO YOU USE A SECOND PHOTOGRAPHER WHEN YOU SHOOT WEDDINGS?
I offer an assistant photographer or "second shooter" as an addition to wedding packages. I always recommend hiring an assistant photographer, as they can capture double the moments and details than I can without cloning myself (which, let's be honest, would be pretty cool). I like to stick to the same group of photographers when I'm choosing a second shooter for your wedding, and therefore I choose the photographer(s) who will deliver the best work possible on your big day. I only shoot with photographers whose style matches up with mine and who I trust to do incredible work. If you already have in mind another photographer that you would like me to second shoot with, let me know and we can chat about it!
